We have been live for about 2 days and so far the feedback has been great--which is a huge relief. We have been talking about Viewzi for months and most people just look at you like you are crazy and make some snide comment about Google and how crazy we must be to try to compete. I’m OK with that.
The coolest thing I get to do is go around and show this wonderful creation to people and watch their reactions. Maybe this is what it feels like to dance your show dog around at the big show. Viewzi has some nice tricks--and we are just showing roll-over and play dead right now...the bigger tricks are yet to come.
Soon (week or less) we will be launching the Celebrity and the Album Views. I think you will love them both.
It is all about the views.
Things are picking up as we get closer to the alpha (private) launch. We have most of the key views done and they are looking great (thanks to Aaron, Hugh, Anna, and others).
Chris has made significant headway on the migration from a Flash-only solution to a more agnostic one with both Flash and xhtml views and outer shell. The biggest implications were actually not with the UI (I would have thought) but more with the security issues when we added xhtml API for external view support.
Another major area of progress is with the web-screenshotter. We are very close to what looks like a very elegant (and fast) solution for getting much better resolution shots than we would have thought (thanks Mike).
So, timing? Probably beginning of September....patience. It will be worth the wait.

Saturday June 23rd.
9:00 am - I got to the office and made the final Wii adjustments, setup the coffee station, checked the fridge to make sure it was full of cokes and beer, and made sure the place was clean. Aaron got there shortly thereafter—with the bagels. Trey followed, with donuts from Mustang Donuts (best in Dallas and way better than Krispy Kreme). We had extra chairs, offices arranged for guests, new desks setup, and oh yeah, cash--enough to payout $1000 for two prizes at 10pm that night. So, after getting the instructions for the day, agendas, and other last minute items ready, we felt like we were “ready” to open the doors for the first (annual?) Viewzithon.
9:45 am - Giovanni arrives with two video cameras, tripods, laptops, and all kinds of other gear needed for the upcoming social media blitzkrieg.
10:00 am - doors open: The first ever Viewzithon begins! (yaay)
11:00 am - Still waiting, anxiously for the first web developer to show up.
12:00 noon - A few friends come by to say hi and see how…
Thank you to all that attended our 1st Annual Viewzithon. This turned out to be an interesting Viewzithon since we didn’t have anyone actually show up for the day. Nonetheless, We had a great day of fun, view building (by ourselves), Nintendo Wii’ing (by ourselves), and networking (with each other). Take a gander at the first Viewzoo Video from our past two weeks of traveling around America to recruit View Builders for Viewzi. Here is the Viewzoo Video of our own favorite Internet Star Justine walking through a demo of the Viewzi search engine prototype.
Stay Tuned for more excitement from the Viewzi team and their wild shenanigans.
